Optical Lens Selection Support

Use our optical lens selection support tool to describe your imaging task, sensor, field of view, working distance and wavelength. Review preliminary calculations and lens-family suggestions, then send your requirements to SUPERIOR for engineering review. Final model selection depends on verified product specifications, optical performance and integration constraints.

  1. Define your imaging task
  2. Review preliminary results

1. Application & Lens Type
2. Sensor, Coverage & Working Distance

Use the sensor’s active dimensions in millimetres. Match sensor width and object field of view along the same axis. Leave unknown values blank.

3. Wavelength & Project Details

Enter the actual operating band in nanometres, including IR illumination when applicable.

Request Engineering Confirmation

Send your requirements and project details to SUPERIOR for lens selection support.

How This Lens Selection Tool Works

  • Compare active sensor coverage, field of view, working distance, wavelength and mount requirements.
  • Review approximate magnification and, where appropriate, a conventional lens focal-length estimate.
  • Screen published model records only against the verified specifications supplied by SUPERIOR.
  • Submit unknown or conflicting requirements for engineering review before purchasing samples.

Lens Selection Questions

Can this tool confirm a final lens model?

No. It checks the available model records against the parameters you provide. Engineering review and sample validation are required before model approval.

Why is no focal length shown for some applications?

Telecentric, fisheye and high-magnification systems require a different approach. The tool suppresses the simple conventional-lens estimate in these cases.

What if I do not know my sensor dimensions?

Provide the camera or sensor model and any known requirements. The team can help confirm active dimensions; nominal optical format labels are not exact dimensions.
